I love this comment and I agree wholeheartedly. There are a few reasons for this issue. As I'm sure you know, women and people of color have been chronically undiagnosed for decades. I'm hoping this podcast helps change that. So there is a lot less source material because women and people of color were undiagnosed or misdiagnosed and we just don't have the resources to pull from.
That said, the list was not a full list of episodes we are considering. Some women we have on our list that might not have been included in this post are... of course Emily Dickinson - that episode is out already, but also:
Susan Boyle
Courtney Love
Daryl Hannah
Models, Heather Kuzmich & Alexis Wineman
Barbara McClintock – Scientist and Cytogeneticist
Temple Grandin
Ladyhawke
The TV Mini-series - The Queen's Gambit
and Greta Thunberg
So those are a few of the women we will be profiling!
As for people of color, one of our next episodes (already recorded) is about Benjamin Banneker who is an AMAZING architect, city planner, and almanac maker. We are also working on episodes about:
Chris Rock (featured in our trailer)
Talia Grant
Tom Wiggins
Armani Williams
Urkel
Satoshi Tajiri – Creator of Nintendo’s Pokémon
Paul Robeson
Miles Davis
If you have ideas for more women and people of color, please send them our way!
I appreciate this article. However, I'm deeply bummed that your list of people you're going to discuss includes literally only one woman. I'd love to see a list that is mostly women and queers. We study dead white men so much already! Oh, and they're mostly or all white?
I am the mother of four children two grandchildren . I have two children with autism , my youngest son who is 15 years old, he has a dream to go to the Olympics a Free Style Skier .. we are in Vermont working on making this happen . I am so thrilled to be part of this community …
Sofia!
